Karl Rove, Once Again A Deer In The Headlights

Rove testified again today, his 4th time thus far, in front of the Grand Jury investigating the Valerie Plame leak. Previously, the prosecutor had guaranteed that Rove would not be a target for indictment. Before his testimony today, however, the prosecution informed Rove that they could no longer make that guarantee.

My feeling on this is that, yeah, Rove did it. Libby will go down as the fall guy, but this was, IMHO, clearly orchestrated by Rove. It's got the fingerprints of his MO all over it. They had to take Joseph Wilson down for having the GALL to show evidence that the grounds for invading Iraq were, well, faulty at best. And this is the weapon they chose.

But like I said, most likely Libby will take the fall. Rove will remain, however, always as Lady Macbeth trying to wash the blood from his hands.

More Genius From The Dictator Of Saudi Arabia!

King Abdullah tells ABC News' Barbara Walters is a determined ally in the global war on terror.

Abdullah also told Mrs. Walters that, one day, Saudi Arabia MAY let women drive. How nice of them.

Thatcher Speaks Out On Iraq

Margeret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of the UK, has recently shared doubts about the basis for going to war in Iraq. Thatcher is a figure held in high esteem by many, but especcially among American "Conservatives".

Now, not that I think her statements are going to make Sean Hannity see the light or anything, I do wonder though how this action of hers will be approached by the right-wing talking heads. Usually, when someone questions the reasoning of the President on invading Iraq, the right begins to tear down this person's integrity and/or patriotism. I wonder, will they have the balls (or lack of sense) to bring these attacks against freakin Margeret Thatcher?

Falwell and Robertson

I just found this nice little excerpt of Pat Robertson interviewing Jerry Falwell ( two of my favorite folks on the planet ) on 9/14/01. If you'll recal, that's about 3 days after the attacks on the WTC. Below is a short piece of that interview on the 700 Club. Did you know that the ACLU was to blame for the terrorist attakcs? Me neither! Enjoy!

Falwell: “What we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact, God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.”

Robertson: “Well, Jerry, that’s my feeling. I think we’ve just seen the antechamber to terror, we haven’t begun to see what they can do to the major population.”

Falwell: “The ACLU has got to take a lot of blame for this. And I know I’ll hear from them for this, but throwing God…successfully with the help of the federal court system…throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools, the abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked and when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad…I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who try to secularize America…I point the thing in their face and say you helped this happen.”

Robertson: “I totally concur, and the problem is we’ve adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government, and so we’re responsible as a free society for what the top people do, and the top people, of course, is the court system.”

Cars They Probably Won’t Build…But Should

First, let me say this:

My name is The Riverman and I am a Car Addict.

I monthly read Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road and Track, and Sport Compact Car. Often, I through in Automobile and some others. Unfortunately, I have little physical evidence (i.e. cars) to show for my addiction.

But that’s another article. For those already aware of my recent, and not so recent, car woes, well, you know.

Anyway, on with this article.

I’ll begin with the Pontiac Solstice Z06. The Pontiac Solstice, details can be found here, is a lovely little roadster GM honcho Bob Lutz has championed since it’s inception as a concept. It is now production ready and will be out in 06. Think of it as an American Miata. But here’s where reality ends, and I begin.

The Solstice is based on GM’s Kappa platform. That is, a front engine/RWD, small-medium car canvas. The engine in the production Solstice is a GM Ecotec 2.4L I-4 producing 177hp. Not huge numbers, but for a car of this size and heft, it’s not a problem. However, the Kappa platform can easily accept a V6 or…a V8! Now we’re talking. So I say, shoehorn in the 505hp 427cid monster motor from the C6 Vette. Do the requisite chassis, suspension, etc, upgrades, and you have an incredibly potent car. Obviously. ?

The next one is even easier, the Dodge Magnum SRT-10. You just take a Dodge Magnum SRT-8 (wonderful in its own right) and you throw in the Viper’s V-10. Easy, and amazing. And it’ll blow the doors off of every other sedan in the world. Let alone every other FRICKIN STATION WAGON!! HAAHAHA

Ok, enough for now. I’d love to get some of your own ideas down in the comments.

Nighty,

RM
