More War Stuff

Try as I might, I can't really seem to care one way or another about this war. Of course, I want our boys and girls safe and I want us to win, but morally, ethically, whatever...I just don't care. However, here is, I think, the best piece written that sums up the situation. The rest of the site is brilliant as well so browse around it.

Blah (Repeat ad absurdum)

(in response to GWB's "big" speech just before the war)

Despite the pithy and poignant title of this piece, I found the President’s speech well written and moderately well presented (in a GWB sort of way). My only gripe is this: STOP SAYING THE SAME CRAP OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND JUST KILL SOMEBODY FOR PETE’S SAKE!!! The Bush administration has been making the SAME points in the SAME language for many months now. And to what end? Did they expect to change many minds? The waiting and whining is what got to me. We are in eminent danger…but we won’t attack for a long time. Personally, as a libertarian (note the small “l”), I find myself somewhat noncommittal on the issue as a whole. Sure, Iraq is bad, but I’d rather see the borders secured and all the illegals deported. But I digress; I’ve found it funny throughout this entire debate how our motive for attacking Iraq has evolved. I have a friend in the Marine Corps who told me last January that we’d be moving a mass of troops into the Middle East in the early fall of the year, so I’ve known this was inevitable for a while. In the beginning, we were going because Iraq had ties to Al Qaeda. Then it was regime change. Then we decided it was because of the “weapons of mass destruction”. Now it’s some odd amalgam of all of the above. So we’ve spent nearly a year crapping about, watching the stock market fall because of uncertainty, watching the world grow ever more tired of us. And now we come to the Rubicon. And I still don’t know, truly, why. And moreover, I DON’T CARE. Frankly, I’d like to see a few neutron bombs dropped on Iraq to wipeout all the people, and then I’d like to see us make Iraq state number 51. No more Saddam, no more oil problems, and screw the UN. Of course, I think we should do the same thing to the rest of the Islamo-Fascists around as well, but that’s another story.

Recently I have received complaints from regular viewers that I haven't updated in a while. That's true. I've been busy. Sue me. In the mean time, make sure to read over my archives and make all your friends read all my stuff too. Then, after you've done that, check out all my links. And then send links to my website to everyone you know and even addresses you make up. There, that should keep you guys busy while I'm on vacation. :)
